Black Night or Black Knight?

After using Music Brainz to tag and clean up some of my music library, a particular track on the Deep Purple - Purple Rainbows CD came back listed as Black Knight. And that is how I've accepted it ever since. When reading a submission from Kevo regarding Deep Purple, I was shocked that he referred to the track as Black Night, and I quickly corrected him. Little did I know my errors and ways. The Internet, you see, is a funny place - and in some cases, I just don't think people can see the differences. It takes only one person to change a title of a track, and then across the Internet, many people use that title track. But we shall leave that behind. Here is the email I replied back to Kevo after realising my mistake:

[edit] Steve's Message

Hey Kev,
I am shocked and amazed at the Internet. No I'm not. Completely. Thats what they talk about - all this crap about "disemination and inaccuracy" on the web. Black Night? Or Black Knight? Well, you're right. It is N. But so many places refer to it as Black Knight. Even the CDTEXT on Deep Purple - Purple Rainbows lists it as Black Knight! Now, thats something thats completely foofed up. And thats not even on the Internet - whoever produced the CD and thought it would be a good idea to add CDTEXT to CD, could have at least spelt the track correctly. But no, never fear. Night. Night. Just as in "Nights into Dreams". But not Knight. Now, this is what we should do: print off millions of posters with "Black Night. The Correct Spelling, you bastards." And if that doesn't work, we start hitting it out with t-shirts. "Black Knights Out - Black Nights Here to Stay!" Going one stage further, we shall forget to cut our hair for over 3 years, see what happens, then do something with it in relation to ridding this world of the annoying spelling mistakes that plague us. While we're at it, I think we should work on stopping people incorrectly using the apostrophe. Especially when talking about things such as "CD's" or "banana's". Then, once the world finally learns some simple grammar and spelling rules, it shall be a better place. And that better placde will be ready to accept our understanding of life, the universe and everything. Everything including things such as the misuse of spellings, especially in the case of Knights and Nights, and apostrophes! But we wont stop there! Nay! We shall go on to rid the world of this false imitation that could be better known as "shite music". And then, and only then, will our jobs be done. And when Judgement Day arrives, and the Lord asks us what we have done in our life - we can reply "We rid the world of spelling mistakes, grammar annoyances - and best, and by far not the least, shite music." And he shall reply "Damn good job, boys! You're IN!" And there shall be much rejoicing. And the party shall live on. And we will be legends. Legends. Think about it, Kev. It's bound to happen. One way or another.
And now, I must bid you adieu, for I have important issues to bring up to these misusers!
Steve.

And, as written by the prophets, several thousand years before our time, Kevo replied:

[edit] Kev's Message

Well Steve I have to say I was most upset when you didn't believe me and my music knowledge, especially doubting my knowledge on my second favourite band, very disappointed and very, VERY upset. However, due to your amusing reply I shalt forget all about our mis-understanding and it shall be consigned to that huge pile of metaphorical crap which no one gives a sh** abut anymore, just where it belongs...
And now to the crusade yes indeed! INDEED!! We must erradicate such shite from our otherwise beautiful world. So down with spelling and grammer mistakes in supposedly 'reliable resouces', down with crap, mis-spelt CD text, down with all that sh**!!
And as this is the second time I've had to write this out because the freaking computer crashed (and now won't let me maximise the window; down with shi*** computers too!!! Grrrrrrrrr...

And now, we shall settle this charade, with Wormo's own view:

[edit] Dave's Conclusion

I am also upset Steve that you would challenge Kev's knowledge on the subject of Black Night, or Black Knight. As Kev cleverly put it to myself "This is the music I was brought up with mate!"
However, I am honoured at Kev for forgiving Steve on this terrible mis-understanding, either way, I think it's safe to say, nobody is wrong when we pronounce the word verbally. *N-eye-tt*
