Foxhound is the special forces unit set up by legendary soldier Big Boss in 1970. It consisted of a group of mercenaries who could be used in operations where the US government wanted no official involvement, such as assassinations and recon. The highest codename that could be awarded to any recruit is that of 'Fox' and this was only ever awarded to one man, Frank Jaeger a.k.a. Grey Fox. Following the Outer Heaven incident in 1995, Big Boss' position of head of Foxhound was taken by Colonel Roy Campbell. During the Shadow Moses incident almost every Foxhound member was killed by either Solid Snake or the FoxDie virus. Grey Fox was also killed by Liquid Snake. After Shadow Moses, Foxhound was officially disbanded. As of the Big Shell incident the only remaining former Foxhound members are Solid Snake and Revolver Ocelot.
