God, the Devil and Bob
From LibertyWiki
God, the Devil and Bob is an animated comedy created by Matthew Carlson. God has become tired of the world and the universe, and is starting to think of scrapping it, and starting over again, but decides if one soul can show him its worth saving, then he will. And being a sporting diety, he lets the Devil choose. Now its up to Bob Allman, an alcoholic, porn-watching, father of two to save the world.Contents |
[edit] Characters
God (James Garner) is a gentle caring soul, creator of the universe and everyone within it, and usually has too much on his hands, which is where Bob Allman (French Stewart) comes in. Although reluctant, Bob goes along with the God's scheme, but is often sidetracked by the Devil (Alan Cumming) who is constantly coming up with plans to get his own way, although his emotionally-fragile state leaves him constantly unable to cope. As well, Bob's wife, Donna Allman (Laurie Metcalf) is forever moaning at Bob for not helping around the house, or drinking too much; and his daughter, Megan (Nancy Cartwright) who is always getting into trouble, and having a general teenager attitude. Bob's youngest son, Andy (Kath Soucie) is the underestimated intelligent member of the pack.
[edit] Controversy
God, the Devil and Bob was canceled after three episodes after being aired on NBC channel, after channel executives received an alarming number of complaints about its potentially offensive religious material. Many people believe these people were acting too irrationally, as most of the episodes, although they take a laugh at some religious aspects, often have a moral storyline.
