The Jedi Exile is the main character in the PC/XBox videogame, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II. The player can choose to take this character towards the Light Side of the Dark Side of the Force.

During the Mandalorian War, the Exile was a General fighting for the Republic under the command of Revan. The Exile gave the command to Bao-Dur to activate the Mass Shadow Generator, which crushed both Mandalorian and Republic ships, and destroyed the planet of Malachor V. After causing such a massive destruction, the Exile found his connection to the force had been severed. As the only Jedi that returned to the Jedi Council after the war, he was strucken out of the order.

For several years, he remained in Exile, keeping a low character throughout the Outer Rim, and as such, his actions aren't documented. However, it is known that Atris orchestrated the Exile's return to known space, in order to attract the attention of the Sith. The Ebon Hawk rescued him from his fate, and with the help of the utility droid T3-M4, the Ebon Hawk was guided to the mining facility at Peragus II.

After waking up into the deserted surroundings, he met with Kreia, a mysterious Jedi Master who reveals little about her identity (Although it is later discovered that she had been exiled because Revan was her apprentice, and it was her teachings that had failed). The whole mining facility was deserted, apart from malfunctioning mining droids. During searching for a safe way of the facility, the Exile meets with Atton Rand who was imprisoned on the brig. While on a space walk to get to the crews quarters, Darth Sion and

a gathering of Sith Assassins arrive at the facility believing the Exile to be the very last remaining Jedi. The Exile, Kreia, Atton and T3-M4 manage to escape Peragus, while being persued by the Sith. Laser fire from the ships ignites one of the asteroids, and sets of a massive explosion causing a massive destruction to the remains of the planet. The Ebon Hawk narrowly escapes and launches into hyperdrive to reach the only planet in the astro-navigation charts onboard, Telos.

Here, they meet Bao-Dur who had previously served under the Exile, while he was a general in the Mandalorian War. After the transport they used to get down to the surface of Telos from the Citadel Station which orbits the planet was shot down, Bao-Dur finds the three uninjured, and rescues them from the crash site. After stealing a shuttle from an abandoned military compound on the planet, the party escapes to the polar region of the planet, where they are ambushed by HK-50 assassin droids. After surviving the battle, they are discovered by the Jedi Master Atris, who was on the council who had sentenced the Exile. She had been collecting the ancient relics of the Jedi, and learning of the Jedi teachings. She had entrusted herself to Echani trained Handmaidens. After speaking with Atris, the Exile and his party leave on the Ebon Hawk. However, the last of the handmaidens was sent aboard the Ebon Hawk, and snuck on without the party first being aware.

While on board the ship, T3 informs the Exile that while being held by Atris, he had managed to download the database of records from the temple where Atris had stayed. One of the recordings he found was of the Exile's trials, where the last of the five remaining Jedi who had sentenced him: Atris on Telos, Kavar on Onderon, Vrook on Dantooine, Zez-Kai Ell on Nar Shaddaa, and Lonna Vash on Korriban. With this, the Exile sets off to attempt to reunite the Jedi masters.
