Liberty

The liberty system is several millions lightyears from the events of the psirens alliance or theos world, and yet is linked to both, via the isolated colony of Theos, the system itself is a self contained shielded system, shielded by an AEGIS shield, which instead of projecting energy, simply absorbs all incoming radiation or particles and feeds its own system generators with this energy. This is why the sytem of liberty is so peaceful, simply because it does not emit any radiations, and therefore, can not even be found by deep scanning. The gate into the system is also the main AEGIS control centre, and all incoming or outgoing ships have to pass through this moon sized gate, unless they are willing to strike the shield and be reduced to raw energy. This way, Liberty has remained safe from all attacks since the very first planet was formed.

[edit] Demeter
Demeter is the main planet of the liberty planet. mostly grassland and oceans, the largish planet (to the left of Zeus, the central star) has one large moon, which is the main spaceport of liberty. from here, nanite portals are provided to transport goods to and from any destination within the system. this moon also serves as the main communication point for all out of system calls, and the last message of the Freedom Explorer was recieved here. the planet itself is the centre of liberty life, and all liberty art and pure science is practised on this planet, the residents of liberty all live here, and can jump from planet to planet within the system by portals at public places. it is not uncommon to live on Demeter and work on Thremis, for example. the people themselves are very friendly, and the crime rate (like the rest of the system) is 0.01% and those are mainly accidents or crimes relating to disrespect of the weekly schedules set up in respect to sport or culture days, during which, teenagers often try to skip the main lectures or activities. The main and only conurbation is the capital city of DELPHI with approx. 3 million inhabitants, while the planet has the tiny population of only 5 millions which is over 95% of the entire system population.

Hephaestus is the main factory planet of liberty. with a permanent population of 0 the planet is mainly run by independent computers, who take care of the processing of all raw materials into finished products which are then sent back to other planets within the system, or sent to the AEGIS gate to be exported to the rest of the galaxy. all this planet is in fact covered with factories, and the controls for all factories is from the planet's moon, ERA.

These are the two small meteor sattelites orbiting very close to the sun. they provide a communication portal between one side of the system and the other, so that the sun does no block the link between Hephaestus and Demeter. exept that, they do little else, although they are the weapon storage facilities for the entire liberty fleet. and thus one of the most heavily guarded section of space in liberty.

Atremis is the popular resort planet of the liberty system.(middle left with three moons) with white sand beaches, beautiful jungles and gorgeous crystal clear seas, it is a must for the citizens of liberty to relax and enjoy the atmosphere at least once a year, and the three moons also provide a wide range of activities, from low gee golf to low gee skying on the ice moon of mordheim, perfect for thrill seekers!

the ringed planet of Thremis (bottom left) is the main military base of the liberty system it is also where the liberty military academy is located, where all libert citizens spend four years of their life training to defend liberty. thr rings provide a perfect place for exercises and tactical simulations, whereas the sight off the thremis(I) moon over the rings are said to be the most beautiful sights in liberty.

Genesis is the only uninhabitable planet within the liberty system, it is also the only planet not terraformed to suit the needs of Liberty. (bottom right) the planet is in fact not a gas giant as first thought, but rather a very small solid planet with a very dense and thick atmosphere. its only uses to liberty is that the ring system is a good place to have its deep space research station, which is where the launch of the Freedom Explorer took place.

Seidon is the water planet of liberty. Covered with water, none of the surface has any relief, and its very good disposition towards the heating effects of the central star means that winds sweep the entire surface. it is here however, that the liberty medical research centre was created as the other planets were terraformed. and that the centre for extreme research is located, where all dangerous researches are carried out, miles beneath the waves. the pull of its only moon also creates giant surges, and the oversea research platform is often submerged, weeks at time, dependent on the erratic orbit of the moon. The rough conditions have given meaning to the liberty expression: "as mad as Seidon" to mean extremely angry, or in a fit of fury.
However, given all of its downsides, this is a vital planet, due to the many aquatic plants, which provide new drugs for medical uses on a monthly, if not sometimes daily basis. and will continue to do so for many years to come, until the seabed has been thoroughly explored, which will not be for a while to come...
