Malachor V

Malachor V is a desolate, barren planet where the last battle of the Mandalorian War was fought. The entire planet resonates with the Dark Side of the force, and where the most terrible atrocity of the war took place. The fallen Jedi, Revan had planned to take advantage of the Mandalorians here, knowing that the planet was taboo in Mandalorian culture: they believed Malachor V was an evil place and avoided its presence. Revan amassed a large force on Malachor V, including Jedi and Republic soldiers (whose loyalty to Revan was in question), which gave the Mandalorians a target too good to pass up on.

From the heart of the ancient Sith training ground, the Trayus Academy, buried within the planet, Revan commanded his forces, and used a weapon known as the Mass Shadow Generator, developed by a Zabrak engineer named Bao-Dur. When the command was given by the Jedi Exile to activate the weapon, it killed Revan's enemies - Mandalorian, Jedi, and Republic soldier alike. The enormous explosion engulfed the entire planet and knocked out almost the entire Mandalorian Fleet, along with the soldiers from both sides of the war on the surface of the planet. The planet was littered with the remains of the Republic fleets, and the only remaining living creature that resided on the planet were the vicious Storm Beasts.

There were only few survivors of the Battle at Malachor V, including some which hated been fated for legendary status: Darth Revan, Carth Onasi, Canderous Ordo, Bao-Dur, Atton Rand, and, most telling of the atrocities of the battle, Darth Nihilus and the Jedi Exile. With the concentrated deaths of so many Jedi, Republic Soliders and Mandalorians, a massive shockwave was sent through the Force, causing the Jedi Exile to have his link with the Force severed. It was also at Malachor V where Revan's last descent into the darkness was marked, and completed when he declared himself Dark Lord of the Sith. His former Jedi Master, Kreia was sent in search of answers, which she found at the Trayus Academy.

From the ashes of Malachor V arose two immensely powerful Sith Lords: Darth Nihilus, the Lord of hunger; and Darth Traya, the Lord of betrayal. Together, with the help of Darth Sion, they nearly brought about the complete and utter destruction of the Jedi Order. However, their evil plans were thwarted by the Jedi Exile, and nine years after the end of the Mandalorian Wars, the planet was at last completely destroyed, taking with it the Trayus Academy, Darth Sion, Darth Traya, and, for the time being, the future of the Sith.
