Rakata

The Rakata are an extraordinary race who have esteemed researching. Before the Republic was formed, and even before the arrival of hyperspace, the Rakata had begun exploring the Universe, while other planets had barely left their own solar system. Although information is sketchy, it is believed the Rakata ceased to exist 10,000 years before the Republic was created.

The Rakata are roughly humanoid creatures, with some amphibious feautes. With their incredibly advanced technology, they had an advantage over other species, and began colonising to create the "Infinite Empire", a massive empire with more than 500 planets at its height. The population of this empire was estimated at ten billion Rakata and one trillion slaves.

Many thought of them as a completely honourless civilisation, as they were known to defile the bodies they had killed by eating them, and they were also a major slavery power. In order to continue expanding, the Rakata turned towards developing the Star Forge, which would become their solution to their starships and wardroids, but its power came deep from the dark side of the Force. It manipulated the civilization, and began a horrible cival war between the Rakata. When a plague broke out (which was most likely created by the slave species), the Rakata's situation became worse, and soon the Infinite Empire fell. They were forced to retreat back to their home system, where total barbarism now ruled.
