Star Forge

The Star Forge was a near invincible space station of incredible power, built by the Rakata. The station had the power to make huge fleets with a minimum of resources and time. They used it to help form the Infinite Empire, which lasted until about 10,000 years before the Republic was founded. It is believed that the station itself caused the collapse of the Infinite Empire. The Rakata were a naturally warlike species and the Star Forge became tainted, a tool of the Dark Side. This caused the more violent tendencies of the Rakata to become more pronounced. Eventually, a Civil war collapsed the empire. During the Jedi Civil War, Revan and Malak had used Star Maps to find the Star Forge and used it to create a massive fleet. When Revan was betrayed and nearly killed by Malak, he discovered a new facet of the station. He could use it to drain the force from captured Jedi and did so, exponentially increasing his power. Eventually, Revan came back and slew Malak despite the power he had accumulated. Revan destabalized the Star forge and eventually, it plummeted into the sun it used for power.
