Set two years before the original film, Star Wars: A New Hope, the game is set to include content from the new trilogy as well as the original trilogy, and will feature both vehicles and planets memorable from both. The game is being developed by Petroglyph, a development team comprised of many developers from the Westwood studio, which was responsible for the ground breaking, Command & Conquer series, as well as the legendary Dune RTS game, reknowned for inventing the genre. Obviously, with the impresive background of developers, hopes are high for the game. [edit] New look on RTS games
According to previews and interviews with the development team, the game sets out to remove the more boring elements of RTS games, and increase the activity on the more player-central activities. Additionally, the game not only has combat on the surface of the planets, it also has space combat, which both rely on each other. For example, much like Return of the Jedi, a player may be required to deactivate a sheild device before an attack can commence.
