Super Mario World
From LibertyWiki
Super Mario World was the first game made for the SNES released in 1991. Renowned Nintendo game designer, Shigeru Miyamoto was responsible for the production of the game, with music by by Koji Kondo, and graphics designed by Shigefumi Hino. The plot of the game involves Mario and Luigi attempting to save Princess Toadstool who has been kidnapped by King Bowser, the evil ruler of Dinosaur Land. The game was rememberd for setting the bar for subsequent sidescrollers, much like Super Mario Bros did on the NES back in 1985, by including the ability to revisit levels, hidden, and often overlooked, secrets and extras that made the game much more deeper than its predecessors. It was one of the first games to reward the players for completing absolutely 100% - finding all the secrets, getting all the levels, etc.In the game, Mario (and Luigi) journey through seven lands: Yoshi's Island, which acts as an introduction to the game; Donut Plains, Vanilla Dome, Cookie Mountain, Forest of Illusion, Chocolate Island, and the Valley of Bowser. Additionally, there are two secret lands: Star World and Special Zone which can only be reached by completing secondary goals in levels with two (or sometimes more) exits, which appear as red dots on the map, as opposed to the yellow standard dots (examples of this can be seen on the maps page).
