[edit] Help the Internet, or Save Bandwidth?
Many many people use our images without even asking, using our own bandwidth, making costs much greater for LibertyWiki. In some cases, I'm fine with this - it's still under control, and I'm not going over my bandwidth limit... yet. However, since the majority of people neither use the images on their own bandwidth or even credit where they found these images (a fair deal of our images are available through searching on Google Images) it may soon escalate into a problem out of control. According to AWStats running on the wiki subdomain, 60.3% of the bandwidth is gobbled by images alone. Of course, this is to be expected since the text isn't going to use much bandwidth, but do we know if that 60.3% is from visitors from our site? Of course it isnt.
The question is, should we block external webpages from using our images to save our own bandwidth?
