Wookiees are a tall and fur-covered species from the planet
Kashyyyk who have amazingly intense strength. Wookiees are very intelligent, obedient and incredibly loyal. In Wookiee society, a life debt is given to those who save their lives, and this has often formed unlikely relationships between Wookiees and other civilisations (for example,
Han Solo and
Chewbacca).
The Wookiees have a long-standing struggle with the Trandoshans, who during the Clone Wars, frequently enslaved the Wookiees and sent them to work at Kessel (a prison and the galaxies largest mining colony) because of their close proximity to their homeplanet in the Kashyyyk System.
